July 28, 1929 - January 4, 2021
Amy Elizabeth Chandler, of Springboro, Ohio, passed away on January 4, 2021 of natural causes at the age of 91. She was born on July 28, 1929 in Milford, Ohio to the late Marcellus and Mary Chandler, and sister of the late Donald Chandler.
She lived a full and eventful life as the beloved wife of the late Gene Chandler. Loving mother of Mike and Jim Chandler. Loving grandmother of Christina, Cole and Luke Chandler; Matt, Chris, Jeff, Tim and Jackie Chandler; and great-grandmother of Waylon May. Loving aunt of Donnie, Linda Thompson, late Tommy, Mary Jo Hoskins, late Betsy Hoskins, late Mark, Pat, and Teresa Willenbrink.
Amy attended and obtained her degree from Miami University in Oxford where she met and eventually married Gene. She spent most of her career in the Middletown School System teaching Physical Education and coaching several sports. While living in Georgia in the late 1960's, Amy started the first female softball league in Atlanta. She loved sports and wanted to give girls the same opportunity the boys in the area had to have fun and learn from sports.
During her lifetime, she always reached out to help those in need. She was a "second mother" to her students and her sons' friends who were always welcome in her home. Amy was well known for always being happy and playful. She and Gene enjoyed time with their family, friends, playing cards, attending gatherings or supporting family at their games and events. For many years the family enjoyed their Sundays attending the Bengals game. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed antiquing. She remained well loved, quick-witted, but maybe a little ornery through her last days. Visitation will take place at John H. Evans Funeral Home at 741 Center Street, Milford, Ohio Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
