Charles Leon Dumrese "Butch", age 77 of Milford, Ohio died April 12, 2021. He was born August 21, 1943 in Rochester, NY to the late Charles E. and Mildred (Ames) Dumrese. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sandra Dumrese (Barcus), loving children; Todd Dumrese, Sara Holben (Corey), grandfather of Andrew, Parker and Jenna Holben. He is also survived by his younger brother John Dumrese (Marita), sisters-in-law Mary Kay Dumrese, Annie Dixon (Rick), Connie Barcus and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by dear brother Richard Dumrese, brother-in-law Irven Barcus, Jr., niece Ashley Michelle Dixon and his favorite dog, Lizzy.
He graduated from Albion High School (1963), Bowling Green University (1967) BS.Ed, and received his M. Special Ed from University of Cincinnati (1973). Charles taught for 30 years at Milford Schools, including 20+ years spent teaching special education and countless hours keeping score for extra-curricular activities. He proudly served in the United States Army which included one year overseas during the Vietnam War. Charles had a passion for Scouting, working with youth and helping his community. In 1966, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a member of Milford First United Methodist Church for 40+ years. He was a great example of selfless service to his community and all who knew him.
His many passions included: Cincinnati Reds, playing cards with lifelong friends, dogs, Western New York, photography, Abbott's frozen custard, Cincinnati Nature Center, reading, fishing, and laughing with his grandkids and the Walls Family (Rick, Julie, Hailey, Tyler). Visitation will begin at 10am with a memorial service at Milford First United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 17th at 11am.
