Chilton Douglas Grant, the youngest of three children born to Louise and Fred Grant on July 16, 1945, died Saturday, June 29, 2019, in his home in Pleasant Plain. He was 73. Mr. Grant, a native of Hamilton, was a 1963 graduate of Garfield High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Central State University in Wilberforce in 1967. The Army veteran began his career with Ford Motor Co. as a foreman at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Ky. In 1981, he transferred to Ford's transmission facility in Batavia, where he was a plant supervisor for 20 years. After retiring from Ford, Mr. Grant worked several years as a supervisor at Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America's headquarters in Mason. He rounded out his automotive career by returning to Ford as a contractor to assist in the closing of the Batavia transmission plant in 2008. Mr. Grant, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., was preceded in death by parents Louise and Fred Grant. He is survived by son Lance (Anna) Brown-Grant of Columbus; daughter Felecia Henderson of Pontiac, MI; brother Frederick Ronald (Sheila) Grant of Pleasant Plain; sister Janet Ventus of Mason; grandchildren Falyn and Dillon Brown-Grant of Columbus, and A. Grant Henderson of Dearborn, MI; great-grandchildren Adeline and Eloise Brown-Grant of Columbus; niece Karon Grant Mallory of Cincinnati; nephew James (Connie) Carter of Atlanta; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be 6 p.m. Friday, followed by the funeral at 7 p.m. at John H. Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center Street, Milford, OH 45150.
