March 18, 1950 - September 29, 2017
Linda Lee (nee Lohr) Clarke (67), a resident of Montgomery, went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2017.
Linda was born in Columbia Township, in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 18, 1950 to Frank and Helen Lohr. Linda graduated from Indian Hill High School in 1968. A giver by nature, throughout her life, Linda would always find a way to enrich the lives of those around her. She had a passion for helping others and a talent for inserting humor where typically none would exist, which, in itself, often served as the punchline. Linda had a knack for finding the bright side in just about any circumstance and employed her colorful collection of pithy adages to quickly reframe any situation in a positive light. She had no reservations about reminding you that "it could (indeed) be worse,"" it is what it is," and "this too shall pass." Linda always exuded a vivacious spirit and an infectious laughter that she attributed to the many hours she spent with her beloved grandmother and aunt Evelyn, both of whom shared her wry, and sometimes eccentric, sense of humor. Linda spent her summers as a child helping her grandmother as well as volunteering at Stepping Stones, a camp for disabled children. The experiences she gleaned from her summers there greatly contributed to her gratitude for those things most people often take for granted each day.
Linda was her happiest when she was helping others and she would often go out of her way to do so. She had a passion for baking and always had something delicious to share with everyone she came across. It was perhaps her greatest love language. Linda spent decades pouring her heart into children that she would often have from the time they were infants until they were entering high school at her home-based daycare. Most of her neighbors knew her best as the (quite convincing) neighborhood witch that children, and later their children, lined up to see each year on Halloween as she took joy in making each little person feel special. It would be impossible to note all the ways in which Linda touched the lives of those whose paths crossed hers throughout her life, but it would be fair to say that this world is a better place because she was in it.
Linda is survived by her husband, John, daughters, Meredith Bauman (Nathan), Alexis Spiegelman (Marcus), and her stepson John Clarke (Jesse), grandchildren, Luke, Grant, Reid, Morgan, and Merrin, Parents, Helen and Frank Lohr, Sisters, Peggy Fuhrman (Jim), Patty Buecker (David), Molly Lohr, nephews, Doug Scalf (Kindra), and Ryan Scalf (Jackie), and niece, Josephine Buecker.
A graveside burial service officiated by Reverend Duecker, Linda's childhood reverend, will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, located at 687 US Highway 50, Milford, Ohio, 45150, on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bake Me Home PO Box 30082 Cincinnati, OH 45230, a Cincinnati non-profit organization providing disadvantaged moms and kids with the shared family experience of baking with mom.
We will all miss Linda's beautiful spirit, yet "we are of good courage and confident hope, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord."2 Corinthians 5:8 So, we can rejoice in knowing that we are not saying "goodbye", but rather, "until we see you again".
