December 9, 1943 - August 28, 2021
Marilyn (Dykes) Hargis of Milford, Ohio, passed from this world into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 28, 2021, after a twelve year battle with vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. She was the beloved wife of 58 years and childhood sweetheart to Denton Hargis, cherished mother to Jae Lynne Dykes (Bill) of Portland, Tennessee, and Kim Neal (Ralph) of West Chester, Ohio, as well as precious "Nanny" to Dean Neal of West Chester.
Marilyn was born on a family farm in Dykes, Kentucky to the late Charlie and Ada Dykes. She is preceded in death by her brother J.L. Dykes, two sisters, Violet June and Ruby Jewel, and her beloved brother, Pastor Jackie Dykes. Along with her immediate family, she leaves behind her sisters Eva Dean Phelps, Gloria Speaks, Doris Snell, and Jeanie Hughes, and her two brothers, Charles Dykes and David Dykes, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
Marilyn retired from Cincinnati Bell in 2005 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Milford. Her family and friends will remember her best as the beautiful lady whose smile and laughter would light up a room. She was funny and outgoing, and she never met a stranger. She adored babies, and she was thrilled when her only grandchild was born in 2002. Her talents included singing, sewing, cooking and writing poetry. She was always up for eating out, going shopping or taking a trip. Most of all, she loved her family. To her two daughters, she beautifully represented the unconditional love of her Heavenly Father.
Visitation will be held at the Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center St., Milford, OH on Tuesday, September 7th from 1:00 PM until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Her nephew, Pastor Joel Greer, will be officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Milford, Ohio.
