Mary Rose (nee Holtman) Phillips, age 89, passed from this life on November 23, 2017 at Sem Haven in Milford after a short illness. Mary Rose was the beloved wife of the late Sgt. Donald C. Phillips; loving mother of Nan (John) McCart, Sally (Mackey) Hartman, Susan (Randy) Kleine and Steven (Marti) Phillips; devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; dear sister of Marvin, Richard and Ralph Holtman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Marcella (nee Wissel) Holtman; and brothers, Charles and Roger Holtman. Mary has enjoyed a large extended family including over 150 close, living relatives. She was also a cherished friend to many she knew in her lifetime. Mary was devoted to her faith in Christ and active in St. Andrew Parish where she served over time as Sunday school teacher to children and other seniors and fundraiser for the needs of the church. Mary was also known for her commitment to her family, her community and her country. Mary served veterans from her local VFW auxiliary post 5354 for over 50 years. Mary was active in her political party as precinct executive, worked with Literacy Council, Girl Scouts of America and was a small business owner until her retirement. Visitation will be held at St Andrew Church in Milford on Tuesday November 28th from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Miamiville. Memorial donations may be given to Vietnam Veterans of America or St Vincent DePaul.
