William J Boyd

The Rev. Dr. William Joseph Boyd, Sr., Ph.D. passed away Wednesday in Batavia, Ohio, at 2:10 AM, at the Batavia Nursing Care Center. He was born on December 6th, 1954 and passed away on August 15th, 2018, at the age of 63. He died peacefully in the embrace of his survivors: wife, Beverly, and six children, Will, Debra, John, Anna, Bethany, and Thomas. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Victoria, Christen, Stephen, Jim, and Amber; and grandchildren, Eden, Liam, Isaac, Owen, Aubrey, Caleb, Quentin, Canaan, Salem, Bella, Sina, Aaron and Thaddeus. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Cutter (brother-in-law Alan), his brother Jim Rosson (sister-in-law Jennifer), his father and mother-in-law Seymour and Lennie McWhorter, and his sister and brother-in-law Michael and Debra (McWhorter) Spurlock. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas J. Boyd of Norwood, Ohio and his mother Eileen M. Hagedorn (Burwinkel, Rosson) of Cincinnati, Ohio.

His family, especially his grandchildren, was the joy of his life. He was a faithful and loving Husband, Father and Grandfather.

He was a great athlete in his youth and an avid outdoorsman. He loved raising bird dogs and hunting with his children. He was known and loved in many circles, having been a successful businessman and sales representative in the petrolchemical industry. He served as prior Director of Bearing Precious Seed Ministry, in Milford, Ohio. He was an assistant/youth pastor of 10 years at Bethel Baptist Temple. For over 25 years, he was a senior pastor in four churches: Serenity Baptist, Decatur Chapel, Rincon Baptist Temple, and Eastgate Baptist Church. He was a motivational and educational speaker, a biblical counselor, the founder and dean of a bible school, and a well-liked and sought-after police and military chaplain. He served as a chaplain for the Washington County Sherriff's Department and as a civilian chaplain for Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) in Columbus, OH for over 10 years. He wrote thousands of sermons, published seven books, and led hundreds of people into a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He also facilitated the placement of millions of bibles on the mission field in over 50 languages.

Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 18th at Eastgate Baptist Church: 717 Barg Salt Run Rd, Cincinnati, OH.

Family viewing will be held at 10:30 AM. Public visitation will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Celebration of his life will be from 1:00-2:00 PM. After dismissal of funeral attendees, the family will have a last viewing and then final interment at Graceland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Bearing Precious Seed, 1369 Woodville Pike, Milford, OH 45150. Evans Funeral Home - Milford is serving the family.
