Agustin Borrego Diaz, a cherished father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on November 16, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 30, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas. Agustin's journey through life touched many, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and resilience.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Agustin served his country in the Army with honor and courage. Where he made invaluable contributions to the 25th Infantry. Upon returning home, he embraced a fulfilling career as an electrician at the San Antonio State Hospital. He found joy in his work, blending his technical skills with his passion for carpentry and rehabbing older homes, breathing new life into spaces where memories could flourish.
Agustin was deeply passionate about his family. He is survived by his daughter, Edna Poole, and his son, Michael (Stella) Diaz. He will be missed dearly by his brother, Richard Diaz, and his grandchildren: Sullivan A. Diaz, Loren A. Poole, Vanessa A. (Connor) Foster, Joseph M. Poole, and Nadia Diaz. Agustin also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Osiris A. Diaz and Emery Jo Foster, who enriched his life immeasurably; nieces and nephew Elsa, Hilda, Paula, Juanita, and Richie; as well as many great nieces and nephews. Agustin was preceded in death by: his parents Augustin and Lucia Diaz, and sister Oralia Sandoval.
An aficionado of music, Agustin found solace in the rhythms of his drum set and listening to Tejano music. He played the drums at church services. His larger-than-life personality shone through during football season, especially when the Dallas Cowboys played. Known for his love of pizza, BBQ, and cookies, he never turned down a good slice or a sweet treat, always bringing laughter and joy to gatherings.
Agustin's creativity and passion for life will be celebrated on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 4:30 PM until time of services at
6:00 PM at the Evans Funeral Home, Milford. Family and friends are invited to gather and share their memories of Agustin, reflecting on the joy he brought into their lives.
May he rest in peace, embraced by the love he instilled in those around him.
