Alfred "Al" Thomas Wilce of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away on August 25, 2026.

Al was born on November 13, 1948, in Mariemont, Ohio, to Alfred Francis Wilce and Audrey June Wilce (née Livingston).

A devoted Catholic, Al was a parishioner of St. Agnes Church in Covington, Kentucky. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy veteran during the Vietnam era, serving in London as a radioman for the U.S. Embassy. Following his military service, Al dedicated 30 years of his career to the Internal Revenue Service, retiring as a Senior Analyst.

Al loved his country, and he especially loved the opportunity to see the world while serving it. Of all the places his Navy service took him, London and Alaska were among his favorites.

Throughout his life, Al embraced learning, service, and adventure. He was a Master Mason, Scottish Rite Freemason, Kentucky Colonel, Shriner, and master gardener. But beyond the titles and accomplishments, Al was creative, endlessly curious, wickedly smart, and a man of many talents. He was one of those rare people who seemed to know a little about everything and could figure out how to do just about anything. He approached life with an inquisitive mind, a capable hand, and an unmistakable sense of individuality.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Barr; and his nephew, Howard I. Barr II.

He is survived by his daughter, Belinda Wilce Carroll; his grandson, Nathaniel "Nate" Thomas Carroll; his niece, Malia Panas (Basil); and his cousin, Rose Eva Cornell.

Interment is planned at Arlington National Cemetery, with the date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Al's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
