Barbara L. Burriss

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Lee Burriss, on February 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Age 78. Barb was born on December 24, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Carnell and Loretta (nee Olszewski) Baird.

Barb was the beloved wife of 58 years to Jack Burriss; Loving mother of Jackie Burriss and Bridget (Jim) Sowers; Dear grandmother of Jacob Davis, Kyle Burriss, Courtney Spilker, Cody Spilker, Savannah Penny, and the late Brittany Sowers; Great-grandmother of her granddaughter Ava who is on the way. Barb is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Barb devoted 33 years of her professional life to Clermont Northeastern Schools, where she served as the secretary for transportation and later became a cherished member of the office staff. She played a crucial role in the smooth operation of the school district, earning the respect and admiration of those she worked alongside.

Barb found joy in tending to her flower beds. She was also a devoted animal lover, known for her affection towards her beloved dogs: Buzz, Mazzie, Skipper, and Lizzie. Those who knew her appreciated her candid nature, as she approached life with a refreshing and brutal honesty that endeared her to many.

A dedicated Cincinnati Reds fan, she enjoyed sharing her passion for the game with family and friends. While she cherished time spent with loved ones, she also valued her moments of solitude, where she cultivated her thoughts and passions.
