Barbara Sue Calderhead

September 28, 1961 — December 15, 2021

Barbara Sue (Hauter) Calderhead passed away December 15, 2021 at home surrounded by her husband Dave and children David, Meggie, Tori and their spouses. She was 60 years old and was taken to heaven after an 18 month battle with cancer. Barb was a loving grandmother to Eleanor, Jeremiah, Auden, Edison, Calder, Isla and Paul.

She was born in Peoria Illinois to parents Edward and Shirley Hauter and grew up in Morton Illinois with her siblings Steven Hauter, Laura Porter, John Hauter, Nancy Zak and William Hauter. She graduated from Morton High School in 1979 and Taylor University 1983.

Barb met her husband Dave at Taylor University and they married in 1984. At Taylor University she performed in several plays. As a young woman she was a radio announcer and an administrative assistant at a radio station. She decided to be a homemaker when her children arrived and devoted her talents to raising her family. She created a wonderful Christian home for her family. Many years were spent with her three children's activities of school, dance, music, band and sports. She was heavily involved in everything her children did; from creating homemade Halloween costumes to volunteering in their classrooms to hosting many soccer and basketball team parties. She was an excellent vacation planner and traveled the world with her family and friends. Scotland was a favorite destination.

She also loved reading murder mystery novels and enjoyed watching British detective television shows with her husband.

Hospitality and friendship were her special gifts. She hosted many wonderful parties. New Years Eve Euchre parties at the Calderhead house were annual events greatly anticipated by those closest to her. The weddings she planned with Meggie and Tori are legendary events to those that attended. She also hosted countless baby and wedding showers for her friends and their loved ones.

Her passions were family, travel, scrapbooking and the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) ministry at Faith Church in Milford, Ohio. She was a mentor to many young mothers though the MOPS ministry.

A celebration of life service will be held at Faith Church 5910 Price Road Milford, Ohio on Saturday January 22 at 11:00 am. The service will be streamed for those unable to attend in person. In place of flowers, the family asks those who loved Barb consider donations to MOPS in her honor. Checks should be made out and sent to Faith Church (5910 Price Road, Milford, OH 45150) and the memo line must state "for the MOPS Scholarship."
