It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Hill, beloved matriarch, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who departed this life peacefully on January 11, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 9, 1937, Barbara was a cherished resident of the Owensville, Ohio area.
Barbara was married to Carl "Gene" Hill for an extraordinary 68 years, a partnership that blossomed into a lifetime of love, adventure, and shared memories. They explored all 50 states and ventured beyond borders to Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand, returning home often with stories that delighted her family. Together, they painted their lives with the vibrant colors of travel, camping, and motorcycle rides, bonded by their shared passions, especially through their affiliations with clubs like the Rain Makers NCHA, Tri State Travelers FMCA, and the Goldwing Club.
In her earlier years, Barbara played an essential role in her community, working as a "soda jerk" in Milford, mastering the art of telephone operations at Cincinnati Bell, working at Norma's Camping Center and bringing joy as a floral arranger at local shops. Her warmth and creativity flourished in her hobbies, which included crocheting, counted cross-stitching, and solving jigsaw puzzles. Barbara's hands often crafted beautiful designs, and her heart fostered cherished moments with her family.
She leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by her daughters, Shauna (Steve) Jones, Julie Baumann, and Lori (Bill) Swofford; son, Greg (Lynn) Hill; and grandchildren: Justin (Elly) Snow, Heather (Izzy) Cortes, Christina (Eric) Luebke, Samantha Snow, Haley Hill, Corey Swofford, Julian (Olivia) Baumann, and Katie (Nathan) Henderson. Barbara took great joy in being a grandmother, and her family flourished with her great-grandchildren: Rhiannon Snow, Saige Snow, Ezra Glass, Locklyn Cortes, Colton Glass, Annistyn Cortes, Chase Luebke, Brooks Luebke, William Henderson and Simeon Baumann. She also is survived by her siblings; Judith Stowe, James Chase, William Chase, Gary Chase, Karen Brown and Richard Chase. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Carl "Gene" Hill and her brother David Chase.
Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her life at Evans Funeral Home on Friday, January 16, 2026 in Milford starting at 1:00 PM followed by funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
Barbara's spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her, a testament to a life richly lived and love deeply shared. She will be profoundly missed, but her memories will be treasured forever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Barbara Hill to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 633597 Cincinnati OH 45263.
