Barbara Ann Hurff

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Barbara A. Hurff (LaRock), age 77, of Miamiville, OH (Milford, OH area), on June 18, 2025 following a very short battle with a rare, aggressive cancer. Barbara was an amazing human who always put others above herself, whose smile made the world a better place, and who treated everyone like family. She never met a stranger.

Barbara was born on August 20, 1946 in Middletown, OH. Her early years were spent with loving parents and siblings, and extended family in Rochester, NY until the family moved to Chillicothe, OH during her high-school years. It was there she met the love of her life, Michael J. Hurff, also of Chillicothe. The couple would have celebrated their 57th anniversary this July. Barbara was a Pre-K teacher at Cincinnati Country Day for 23 years. In retirement, she enjoyed time with family and friends, but especially time with her 4 grandchildren.

Barbara leaves behind her loving husband, Michael Hurff, her daughter Carrie (Hurff) Hughes, her son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Heather (Surkamp) Hurff, grandchildren Lauren Hughes (Joseph VonWahlde), Taylor Hughes (fiance Anthony Giometti), Ella Hurff and Rocco Hurff. She was the loving sister to Mary K. LaRock, S.S.J., James LaRock, John (Jill) LaRock, the late Lt. Col. Thomas (Maria) LaRock, Jr., and William (Missy) LaRock. She was also sister-in-law to the late Linda (Michael) Rourke, the late Edward (Jennifer) Hurff, and Matthew (Rebecca) Hurff. She leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents Thomas and Mary (Orth) LaRock and her in-laws Edward and Norma (Staat) Hurff.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm at Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center Street, Milford, OH 45150. A short service will be held there at 6pm. No graveside service will be held at this time.
