Barry L. Prince

May 4, 1943 — February 9, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Prince, a beloved musician, dedicated church member, and cherished husband, brother, uncle and friend, who left us peacefully on February 9, 2025, at the age of 81. Barry was born on May 4, 1943, and spent his life enriching the lives of those around him with his extraordinary musical talents and quick wit.

As the music director at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Barry devoted countless hours to fostering a vibrant musical community, guiding voices in harmonious worship, and inspiring budding artists. His passion for music was matched only by his love for travel, and each journey ignited in him a sense of wonder that he would share through stories and song.

Barry was a man of deep faith, well-versed in the scriptures, and he embraced the teachings of the Bible throughout his life. His intelligence and thirst for knowledge were evident to all who knew him. Even after retiring from Guardian Savings in 2014, he continued to serve at the church until 2020, where he found joy in his contributions and the connections he cultivated.

A lover of card games and an engaging conversationalist, Barry was known for his quick wit, which brightened every gathering. He was a devoted son to the late Rayner and Elva Prince and a loving brother to Donald, Herbert, and the late Sharon Prince. His most profound bond was with his spouse, David Hill, whose companionship was a source of strength and joy.

A funeral service will be held in Barry's honor at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church on February 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 9:30 AM, allowing loved ones to pay their respects and celebrate a life well-lived. Following the service, Barry will be laid to rest at Reading Cemetery.

In these moments of remembrance, we invite all whose lives were touched by Barry to join us in honoring his legacy, reflecting on the music he created, and cherishing the love he shared. Barry Prince will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to resonate through the melodies he composed and the lives he transformed.
