Betty Ruth Sneed, 85, of Batavia, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on July 28, 2026. She was born on January 18, 1941 in Adams County, Ohio to Tom and Iva Mae Workman.
Betty lived a full and joyful life, and nothing brought her more happiness than adventure - especially when her beloved husband, Fred, was by her side. Together they traveled the world, filling their years with unforgettable trips most of all, cruises. Whether it was watching the sunset from the deck of a ship or exploring a new port of call, she approached every journey with curiosity, laughter, and an open heart. Some of her happiest memories were made with Fred by her side.
Back home, Betty was equally famous for something a little closer to the kitchen table: her mashed potatoes. Creamy, perfectly seasoned (secret recipe), and made with love, they were the dish everyone requested, the recipe no one could quite replicate, and the surest sign that a holiday gathering had truly begun. To sit at her table was to feel instantly at home.
Betty is survived by her step children, Steve Sneed, Linda Miller-Rock (Ray), Amy Vernon (Bob); son in law, Freddie Cunningham; her grandchildren, Casey Baldwin (Shonna), Lindsey Smith (Matt), Kyle Miller (Suhana), Emily Rock, Amy Bratton, Nick Vernon (Kayla); great-grandchild, Brooks Baldwin; siblings, Frank Workman (Nancy), Shirley Cook (Bart), Rosalie Workman Horsely-Byrd, sister in law Catherine Workman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sneed; daughter, Marcia Renee Baldwin; brother, George Workman; brother in law, Ken Byrd.
Betty will be remembered for her warmth, her wanderlust, her wonderful sense of humor, and the way she made every gathering feel like special. She simply loved bringing people together and making memories with the ones she cherished most.
A funeral service will be held on August 25, 2026 at 2 pm, at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
