Buford Noland, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on December 11, 1923, in Irvine, Kentucky, to the late Harry and Provie (nee Spivey) Noland. Buford lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to family and friends.
A proud World War II veteran, Buford served honorably in the United States Army, where he fought valiantly in the Pacific Theater during the Bougainville Campaign and took part in the liberation of the Philippines under General Douglas MacArthur in Luzon. His bravery was recognized with four Bronze Stars, a testament to his courageous spirit, dedication, and bravery.
Following his military service, Buford devoted 30 years of his life to working as a Final Inspector at General Motors. He was known for his tireless work ethic and his generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
An avid outdoorsman, Buford found great joy in fishing, hunting, and gardening. He cherished the moments spent on his deck, watching the deer and wildlife that graced his property. His boisterous laughter and charming sense of humor brightened any gathering, and his larger-than-life personality ensured that people would always know when he was nearby.
Buford was married to the love of his life for 73 wonderful years. Together, they shared a passion for travel, embarking on annual trips to Nashville to dance and celebrate their love. Family was everything to Buford, and he instilled in them the values of kindness, generosity, and a zest for life.
In addition to his dedication to family, Buford actively participated in numerous organizations, leaving a profound impact on his community. He was a proud member of Shriners International, the Northeastern Lions Club, the Hamer Masonic Lodge #228 as Tyler, The American Legion, Kentucky Colonel, The Scottish Rite, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Buford was the beloved husband of 73 years to the late Margaret (nee Hartsock) Noland; Loving father of Janice (Wallace) McKinney, Carol (Pete) Wolfinbarger, and the late Buford Wayne (Helena) Noland; Cherished grandfather of Vanessa (Stacy) Benge, Jon (Leigh) Noland, Stephanie (Richard) Howard, David Robinson, Crystal Noland, Tim (Shana) McKinney, Sam McKinney, P.J. Wolfinbarger, Christine (Stephen) Austin, and the late James McKinney; Great Grandfather of Brice, Keaton, Lyndsey, Baleigh, Zachary, Madison, Tucker, Alainey, Brandon, Nathan, Brittney, Emily, Raechel, Ava, and Logan; Great-great grandfather of Caperton and Callie.
Along with his wife, parents, son, and grandson, Buford is preceded in death by his siblings Frances, Franklin, Lucille, Mabel, Harold, Ray, Earl, and Lorena.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Masonic Service at 6:30 PM - Owensville United Methodist Church - 2580 US-50, Batavia, OH 45103. Funeral Services will be held the following morning on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the church. Afterward, he will be laid to rest at Stonelick Township IOOF Cemetery.
