It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Lester Baker Jr, fondly known as Lester, who left this world peacefully on October 19, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on April 26, 1942, in Cincinnati, OH, to Carl L. Baker Sr. and Pearl Vastine. Lester was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and a man of deep faith who touched the lives of many.

Lester was a faithful Christian, having begun preaching at the age of 33. He devoted many years to pastoring at his church:
Newtonsville Church of God and several other congregations over the years. His genuine love for God and desire to spread the message of faith defined his life's work. Alongside his late wife, Alice, he traveled with their six children to various churches, where they would joyfully sing and play music, sharing their faith with others. This legacy of faith and love for music is one that continues to resonate within his children and grandchildren, who carry forward the values he so passionately taught them.

An accomplished musician, Lester could play the guitar, piano, banjo, mandolin, steel guitar, and bass, bringing joy to family gatherings where music and laughter filled the air. Every Baker family get-together was a celebration of love and unity, marked by sweet melodies, hearty meals, and cherished memories. His playful spirit and quick wit brought smiles to the faces of all who knew him, and he had a special nickname for each of his beloved grandchildren.

Lester's zest for life extended beyond music; he adored camping and boating with his family during the summers. He faced challenges with unwavering faith, often smiling and praising the Lord even in tough times.

Lester was married to Alice M. Baker (nee Applegate) for 38 years, sharing a life rich with memories and countless moments of happiness until her untimely passing. In 1999, he found comfort and companionship in the love of his wife Mary C. Dales (nee McClanahan), with whom he shared 27 cherished years. Together, they united two large families, creating gatherings filled with laughter and love that will be remembered fondly by all.

Lester was the loving father of Daniel (Lorie) Baker, Jerry Baker, and daughter-in-law Theresa Baker; Step-father of Peggy (the late Kenny) Wade, Eddie (Gigi) Dales, Linda (Rick) Ziegelmeyer, and Lee (Wanda) Dales. Cherished papaw of 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; Dear step-grandfather of 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Lester's heart overflowed with affection for all of his family, who have been a source of immense pride and joy throughout his life.

Lester is preceded in death by his father and mother Elstner and Pearl Dickson, his biological father Carl Baker Sr, his children Lester F. Baker, Sherie A. Parsons, Teena M. Baker, and Brian C. Baker Sr, as well as his best friend Evangelist Sonny Price, and many others.

Lester's family finds solace in his last wish: that all of his loved ones come to know Jesus. His legacy of love, faith, and compassion will forever inspire those he leaves behind.
