Cecil G Luckey, age 90, died on Thursday, June 1, 2017, in Cincinnati, Ohio. From his birth in Gary, Indiana on June 21, 1926 to his death on Thursday he nourished people around him with love and faith. He was born in Gary, Indiana to Ralph and Mary Ida (McQuaid) Luckey. He was one of 5 children. He had and early love of music and theatre. He served in the US Army, WWII from September of 1944 until July of 1946 as a Chief Switchboard Operator and M1 Rifle Expert. He received a Victory Medal, a European-African-Middle eastern Theater Ribbon with a Bronze Battle Star and 2 overseas service bars, and a Meritorious Unit award of Occupation Medal (Germany). After leaving the military he completed High School and attended Valparaiso University and the Conservatory of Music in Chicago. He played bass guitar and traveled the United States in several bands with his Brother Raymond. On June 1, 1957 he married the best friend of his sister Winnie, Beverly (nee Crossman). Cecil retired from General Electric in Evendale, Ohio. During his long and exuberant life he was a lover of music, painting, sports, politics, God, country and family. Cecil is survived by two children, Michelle (Rob) Luckey, and Steve (Missy) Luckey, four grandchildren, Ryan (Allison) Betscher, Tallie Betscher, Adam Luckey and Cameron Luckey, four great-grandchildren Penny, Jack, William, and Carter, close friend Mary Ann Miracle, Sister Winnie Keller, and many nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, his parents, his brothers Austin, Raymond and his sister Wanda.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Christ's Church at Mason Chapel, 5165 Western Row Road, Mason Ohio, 45040. If desired, in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Back2Back Ministries designated in honor of Cecil Luckey. These donations will go to meet the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children.
