Charles George Wiederhold

March 28, 1930 — September 21, 2024

Charles George Wiederhold passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the age of 94, at his residence Batavia, Ohio. Charlie was the beloved husband of 71 years to Eileen (nee Evans), devoted father of Linda, Tom (Lori), Jim, Jeff (Kim), Joe, Donnie (Jennifer) Wiederhold and Tammy (Jack) Murray; loving grandfather of Katie (Ryan) Garry, Anna (Joda) Wolfe, Mary (Josh) Goins, Tyler (Liz) Wiederhold, Chas (Kirsten Brademeyer) Wiederhold, James (Gary Smith) Wiederhold, Tim (Elexis) Wiederhold, Isaac, Elijah, Hannah Wiederhold, Stephanie (Milton) Henry and Amanda Murray, and the late Ali (Kris) Sons; doting great-grandfather to Hope, Asher, Ethan Goins, Mackenzie, Madeline, Matilda Garry, Luke and Benny Wolfe, Tate Wiederhold, Grayson Wiederhold, Greta Brademeyer-Wiederhold, and Alex and Justin Bonnell. Charlie is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.

Charlie is reunited with his loving parents and siblings in everlasting life, the late Mary (Davis) and George Wiederhold, Lawrence (Eleanor), Helen (Paul) Berger, Ralph (Vera), Dorothy (Monte) Short, and Stanley (Louise) Wiederhold.

Charlie was born at his home in Jackson Township, Ohio in 1930. He attended Goshen schools through 8th grade. During the world war, he, along with his brothers, stopped attending school to help support their family by working on the farm. There was no lack in his education, however. Charlie was a student of life who always did what it took to figure something out. Though he didn't have the piece of paper to prove it, Charlie was an engineer, a counselor, a teacher. A soil scientist, a mechanic, a project manager. He was limitless. He was everything he had to be for his family.

His responsibilities as township trustee and school bus driver perhaps led to his constant need to know exactly where his keys were-long after his driving days were through. He finished his career as a Bank Messenger for Bank One until he retired to tinkering on the copiers in his garage and raising an innumerable herd of goats in the barn (much to Eileen's chagrin).

It's hard to put 94 years into a single paragraph, especially for a life so well-lived. Charlie was a faithful man. He took Church seriously and never missed a Mass (though he did genuflect in the direction of his sunshine, Eileen, instead of the sanctuary during their courtship that started at St. Louis Church). Charlie always showed up. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids compete in sports (especially wrestling), and his face and booming voice were always welcome in the crowd. Charlie was a family man. When his grandchildren were young, Charlie was known to putt-putt across the field on the tractor (a Massey Ferguson) with them on his lap, and attending the tractor pulls at the Clermont County Fair with them became a much-loved tradition. No matter the deck he was dealt, Charlie lived his life as he played his cards: with honesty, good humor, and full attention on the people he loved.

Mostly, Charlie was someone who did small things in big ways. Whether it was a chuckle, turned into a giant, full-chested laugh. Or a twinkle of the eye, turned into an ornery eyebrow flick. The smallest of his gestures, intentions, and support always made the biggest impact.
