Chestine E. Harris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on October 17, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Chestine lived a life rich in love, laughter, and connection.
Chestine was an avid lover of the beach, she found joy in the gentle sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun. As a huge Jimmy Buffett fan, she embraced the easygoing, tropical spirit of his music, often playing his songs as the soundtrack to her days. She also cherished her time with the Parrot Head Club, where her enthusiasm in planning events brought countless friends together, embodying the true spirit of community. A passionate reader, she often unraveled the worlds of fiction and adventure, which she would joyfully share with those around her.
Chestine's devotion to her family was unparalleled. After her husband, Danny Harris, entered full-time care, she made it a point to visit him daily. Their love story spanned over 61 years, built on a foundation of friendship, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they would often drive for hours, hand in hand, sharing memories and dreams, reminding everyone around them of the beauty of deep connection.
She is survived by her loving husband, Danny; daughter Teri Maxwell; daughter Charitee Harris; grandson Topher Moore; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and in-laws who held her dear. Her father, Chester Heffener, preceded her in death.
A celebration of Chestine's life will take place at Evans Funeral Home in Goshen on October 10, 2025. The visitation will begin at 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor her legacy and the love she shared.
