Christie T. Culver

November 9, 1949 — September 9, 2022

Christie T. Culver, 72, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Friday September 9, 2022. She was born to the parents, Emmet C. Tate, and Virginia E. Tate (nee Adelsperger) on November 9, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Christie graduated from Regina High School in 1968. She went on to study Legal Secretary Studies at the University of Cincinnati and graduated with an Associates Degree.

Christie first met her husband Len in 1967. She saw him at a party and told her girlfriend, “I am going to marry that guy.” They were married on October 26, 1973, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Together they raised Jennifer (Clint) Berry.

Christie worked as a secretary for the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health at the University of Cincinnati, for over 10 years. In 1983 she retired from UC to raise her daughter, Jennifer, and worked part time as an Administrative Assistant for Bassman Properties Ltd. for 30 years and retired again in 2016.

Christie was preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Virginia, and her stepfather Thomas King. She is survived by her husband Len, her daughter, Jennifer, son -in-law, Clint Berry, sister, Sue (Rex) Kern, her brothers, Mark (Linda) Tate, Barry Tate and Kevin Tate, her grandchildren, Ava Berry, Olivia Berry, Madison Berry and Carter Berry and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Christie’s passions were her grandchildren, she enjoyed taking them to her cabin located in southeast Ohio watching them swim and fish in the pond and telling stories by the campfire while eating smores. Stories and great conversations would continue to the porch. She enjoyed going on side-by-side rides with them. She loved hearing reports of the weekly inventory of the Purple Martin nests with the tally of eggs and chicks for the season. She would enjoy hearing the Martins chirp and sing before they headed back to Brazil and the Amazon. Many a game of Monopoly, Bingo and Uno were played in the cabin. It wasn’t unusual for Christie and the grandchildren to break out in song singing “Going to the Chapel of Love” by the Dixie Cups. “Big Girls Don’t Cry” by the Four Seasons, and “It’s My Party and I Will Cry If I Want To” by Leslie Gore.

Christie was also a sports fanatic, she loved following the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, and the University of Cincinnati Bearcats. She loved watching all the games…at least while they were winning. She would wear her Bengal necklace during football season and then switch to her Reds necklace when baseball season started. She never hesitated to yell at them when they botched a play or lost the game. She personally liked to bowl in her past time.

The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at Loveland Health Care Center and Hospice of Southwest Ohio… You rock and for that we are grateful.
