In loving memory of Pastor Courtney Wayne Gordon, we the family are deeply saddened to announce his passing on April 15, 2020.
Courtney Wayne Gordon was born in Cincinnati, Ohio the third child of 7 to Harry Hilbert Gordon, Sr. and Catherine Mae Buckner Gordon on March 25, 1946. He was escorted by the angels to be with the Lord on April 15, 2020 at the age of 74. He went peacefully from his earthly home with his wife of 52 years in Milford Ohio to his home in heaven for eternity.
Courtney Gordon was educated in the Milford school system. He was drafted into the United States Army. He completed his education in the army and received his diploma from Milford High school. He served 12 years and rose up to the rank of Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1979.
Pastor Gordon was called into the ministry in 1975. He was the Associate Pastor of Anderson Memorial Baptist Church in Schweinfurt Germany, After leaving the military; he continued to work in God's service. He attended Temple Bible College prior to being called to Pastor The New Miami Baptist Church. He also pastored The Ebenezer Baptist Church, became the Associate Minister of Education at Miami Baptist Church. Finally serving as Pastor of Milford First Church of God for 17 years staying active with his congregation until his last breath. He also was employed as a Custodian for the Sycamore board of education and retired after working there for over 20 years. Pastor Gordon never went anywhere without sharing the word and love of God. There was no questioning that he was a man of god and loved the Lord with his whole heart.
Courtney married Susan I. Randolph Gordon December 1, 1967. That blessed union saw 52 years Before He was called home to be with the Lord. You seldom saw one without the other. Their love for God, each other, and family was always foremost in their lives. They had one daughter, Candace M Rodes (Lafonn) and three grandchildren Courtney Whitfield, Aaliyah Williams and Rahshika Whitfield.
Courtney leaves to remember and always cherish his memory: Wife, Susan I. Gordon; daughter, Candace M. Rodes (Lafonn); three grandchildren, Courtney Whitfield, Aaliyah Williams, And Rahshika Whifield; second mother, Ollie Mae Gordon; siblings, Pastor Jonathan Gordon (Blake), Ervin Presley (Teresa), Sandra Presley, Lewis Presley (Lori), Arlene Presley, Anthony Presley (Cathy), Annette Presley, Bessie Flowers, Winnie Foreman, Senator Rosalyn R. Dance (Nathaniel), Carolyn R. Adams (Harold), Karen Barber, Samuel T. Randolph, Terrell Smith (Marion) Voncelia Smith, Reginald Smith. aunts and uncles; Rose Buckner, Walter Buckner (Dalorise), Olli Steward, Don Gordon (Lena), Margie Butler (Donald); nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Following his big brother to be in the arms of the lord one day apart, Llewellyn Keith Gordon Sr. April 16, 2020.
Preceding him in passing were his parents, Harry Hilbert Gordon, Sr. And Catherine Mae Buckner Gordon; Siblings, Jerrilynn Elean McCreary (Charles), Harry "Skip" Gordon,Jr., Linda Gayle Eberhardt, Thomas Gordon, W. Reginald Randolph (Frieda), Forrest Mae Randolph Heath, Anne Randolph Brown, and Marshall Randolph (Shirley).
Due to the COVID -19 virus, there will be a private visitation and service Tuesday April, 21, 2020 with the immediate family only, going to the committal service at Graceland Memorial Gardens following the service.
