In Loving Memory of Dale Johnston Handley, Sr.

Dale Johnston Handley, Sr. has left this world at the age of 78. His kindness and stories live on through the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Let us celebrate his life and honor his service.

A Life Well Lived

Dale's warm smile, charming mannerisms, and infectious laughter drew people in, creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. Whether it was sharing stories or lending a helping hand, Dale's generosity knew no bounds. He was forgiving, outgoing, kind, fun-loving, accountable, humble, and constantly rooting for the Reds.

Dale proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for three years starting September 1965. His service included three six-month tours in the Vietnam campaign, earning him the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.

Dale was easy to like and easy to love. His life was full of affection, companionship, marriages, and long-term partnerships.

Cherished Family

Dale's family was his anchor. He is survived by two children, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren, Jeff and Kelly Handley (grandchildren Alex and Dakota), Jen Handley, and Allison Uhrig (grandson Griffin). Dale was preceded in death by his oldest son, Dale Handley II (d. 4/17/2024), and his two brothers, John William "Bill" (d. 11/30/2023), and Donald Lee (d. 12/25/2021). His parents were John Alonzo Handley and Edith Lillian Kaufhold Handley.

Dale's extended family will forever hold him dear. He leaves behind sisters-in-law Donna Hastings and Judy-mae Handley; nieces and nephews Liz and Phil Meyer, Kathy Whaley and Mark Nixon, Kevin and Marcia Handley, Katie Handley, Richard and Renee Elliott, Sherri Handley, Brian Elliott, Seth Wallace, and Tyler Wallace. Dale was blessed with too many great-nieces and great-nephews to list, but each of them was loved and cherished. Dale's lifelong friends Don, Pat, Rick, Donnie, and Eddie Iredale were always considered family.

Farewell and Remembrance

Dale grew up in Deer Park and he spent most of his life in the Cincinnati area. After living there a couple times before, Dale made Milford his final home. As we bid him farewell, let us gather to celebrate his memory.

Family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home, Milford on Saturday, May 25th from 10 AM until time of funeral services beginning at 11:30 AM.

A final salute awaits Dale at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Dale and other veterans will be honored together with a private service and inurnment.

Dale's compassionate spirit lives on through his chosen causes. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would honor him.

Farewell, Dale. We love you.
