Daniel Wayne Cleaver, devoted husband of Tania (nee Rau) Cleaver; beloved father of Matthew (Micah Bucey) Cleaver, Jacklin (Nathan) Hostiuck, and Clay (Emilie) Cleaver; devoted grandfather of Phoebe Cleaver and Christopher, Jacob, and Samuel Hostiuck; loving brother of the late Dennis Cleaver, Donald Cleaver, Dana (late Ray) Miller, and Dee (Mark) Parker; and son of the late Thomas and Marjorie Cleaver; passed away on April 3, 2022, from metastatic cholangiocarcinoma at the age of seventy years, a cancer he courageously battled until the end. Dan was born in Pleasant Plain, Ohio, on November 7, 1951. Except for brief spells spent in Cleveland, Chicago, and Atlanta, Dan lived in Pleasant Plain his entire life, a community he loved. Dan was at various times a paperboy, a ballplayer, a golfer, a gospel singer, a retail executive, an English teacher, an antique furniture refinisher and dealer, a theatre director, a baseball coach, and we even think he worked at AK Steel for a few days back in the early 70s. In short, Dan did a lot of things, touched a lot of hearts, and changed a lot of lives in his too-brief seventy years. Family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home, 1944 State Route 28, Goshen, Ohio, 45122, on Saturday, April 9, from 10:00am until 12:00pm when a memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to GLSEN (www.glsen.org) or the Warren County Humane Association (www.homelesspets.org).
