Darlene Henson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis "Darlene" Henson, a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and devoted Christian. Darlene, 82, of Goshen, Ohio, left this world peacefully on March 13, 2025, surrounded by the love she so generously gave throughout her life. Born on July 15, 1942, in Dayton, KY to the late Frank and Eva (nee Walker) Driever.


Darlene was the beloved wife of 43 years to the late Maurice "Doodle" Henson; Loving mother of Michael Ray (Freida) Henson, Thomas Allen Henson, the late Patrick Aaron (Joyce) Henson, and Alicia (Jeff) Hiter; Dear grandmother of Allen, Amanda, Chasity, Brittney, Kermit, Jonathan, Patrick Jr., Phillip, Jeffrey, and Jameson; Great-grandmother of Marcus, Max, Austin, Erica, Crystal, Brandon, Destiny, Breanna, Adriana, Brooklyn, Jordan, Blake, Courtney, Isaiah, Alayia, Adleigh, and Annalise; Great-great grandmother of Oaklynn and Langsten; Sister of Linda Kaufelt, Judy Smith, and the late Nick (late Judy) Driever. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.


Family was Darlene's world. She found pure joy in the company of her children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories through fishing trips and gathering for homecooked meals. Her home was a sanctuary where laughter echoed, and joy was abundant. Darlene possessed a remarkable ability to connect with others, forging friendships effortlessly and always extending a helping hand to anyone in need. In addition to the love she had for her family and friends, Darlene cared deeply for her dog, Precious, who brought her much joy and comfort.


Darlene had a spirit as vibrant as her laughter. A faithful Christian, she devoted herself to her church community, exemplifying kindness and generosity. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and her unwavering belief in the power of prayer not only strengthened her spirit but also inspired those around her. Darlene served in various roles, teaching Sunday school, maintaining the church, and holding church services for residents at The Anderson nursing home. She spent countless hours visiting the sick, offering companionship, prayers, and her unwavering support.


In addition to her deep faith and compassionate heart, Darlene was an avid seeker of activity. Whether it was attending church services, shopping, or savoring meals out with family and friends, she was constantly on the move, embracing life with enthusiasm.


A funeral service to honor the life of Darlene will be held at the House of Prayer on March 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation for family and friends starting at 11:00 AM, also at the House of Prayer - 8764 OH-132, Pleasant Plain, OH 45162. Burial will follow at Westboro Cemetery.
