David W. Ames

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of David (Dave) Wendell Ames on August 6, 2025, at the age of 65. Dave was born on March 18, 1960 in Rutland, Vermont to the late Wendell Ames and Alice Beverly-Kelemen. Dave resided in Bethel, OH with his beloved wife, Donna Ames, in the dream home they built together.

Dave loved to make people laugh. He knew no strangers. He was a man of faith. Most of all, he was a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather. He found the greatest joy in spending quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, reading history, family vacations at the beach, drinking a good bourbon and watching Notre Dame football games.

Dave was the beloved husband of 39 years of Donna Ames; Loving father of Jeffrey (Emily) Ames and Justine (David) Bahler; Cherished grandfather of Harper Rose Ames (10), Avery Rose Ames (7), Eleanor Anne Bahler (1), and Eloise Marie Bahler, who is set to arrive in early 2026. Dave is also survived by many brothers, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Evans Funeral Home - Milford. The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew Parish Church - Milford.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Dave's memory to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, an organization very close to Dave's heart. (link below)

David Wendell Ames' legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in their lives.

Following the services, friends are welcome to join the family for food and fellowship at the American Legion Post #450 in Milford from 12 PM to 3 PM.
