Obituary

Deborah A. Johnson, 75, of Milford, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, surrounded by her loving family - her husband of 53 years, Bryan Johnson, and her daughters, Jessica and Emily.

Debi was born in Richmond, Virginia, and grew up in Mt. Carmel, Ohio. She graduated from Anderson High School and went on to train as a nurse at the Courter Technical School in Cincinnati. It was there that her best friend, Marcy, set her up on a blind date with a guy from Rochester, New York, named Bryan. It was a success.

After earning her degree, Debi moved to New York to be closer to Bryan, where an elderly Italian neighbor taught her the secrets of home cooking - most notably how to make the best lasagna. Following their wedding, Debi and Bryan spent several years living on the West Coast in Seattle, Washington, and Huntington Beach, California, before eventually settling in Terrace Park, Ohio to be closer to family.

Debi was known for her larger‑than‑life presence and made friends wherever she went - whether at the fishing hole, around the mahjong table, or through her work as a volunteer and community event organizer. Her boisterous personality and sharp wit made her the life of every gathering. Debi was a legendary host and was happiest when planning a party or themed event. Her celebrations are still talked about today: Jessica's punk‑rock birthday, Emily's Hawaiian luau graduation, and Christmas mornings filled with Bryan's famous sausage and gravy.

Debi dedicated 43 years to nursing, working in Labor and Delivery at The Christ Hospital, the Emergency Department at the University of Cincinnati, and as a clinical nurse at the Clermont County Jail. And yes - she had stories.

Later in life, Debi embarked on a deeply personal spiritual journey and was confirmed in the Catholic faith. Her faith brought her great comfort, peace, and strength, especially in her later years, and became an important source of guidance and reassurance.

Debi is survived by her devoted husband, Bryan; her adoring daughters, Jessica (Tony) Goins and Emily (Wotez) Cable; and her three beloved "grands," Elizabeth, Lucy, and Dash. She also leaves behind her dear siblings: Donna (Ed) Amann, David (the late Linda) Herald, Joe (Tina) Herald, and her twin sister, Diana (Marc) McBride, as well as her sweet cat and companion, Bertie.

She was preceded in death by her cherished mother, Kathleen "Kay" and her father Harry "Curly" Herald.

A fabulous woman of many eras, Debi's most treasured role was being "Momo." She found great joy in delighting her grandchildren with games, gifts, home‑cooked meals, and their beloved annual trips to Maumee Bay. She loved them fiercely and completely, spoiled them shamelessly and wouldn't have had it any other way.

We love you to the moon and back.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Debi's life. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Milford, followed by a gathering at Evans Funeral Home in Milford (741 Center Street) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
