Debra "Debbie" Lee Hodson, beloved wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on June 22, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio, Debbie devoted her life to caring for others as a respected Registered Nurse in the cardiology department at Bethesda North Hospital. Her compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to her patients and their families left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Milford, Ohio, Debbie was deeply involved in her community. She was known for her radiant laughter, warm smile, and generous spirit. Debbie was a beacon of light to everyone she encountered, always offering comfort and support-especially to those battling cancer. A breast cancer survivor herself, she became a passionate advocate for cancer awareness and fundraising, dedicating time and energy to this cause following the heartbreaking loss of her sister, Suzie, to pancreatic cancer.
In September of last year, Debbie was diagnosed with clear cell ovarian cancer, a rare and aggressive subtype. She faced her illness with remarkable strength, grace, and faith until her passing on April 28, 2026.
Debbie is survived by her loving spouse and best friend, Tom Hodson, whom she married on July 23, 1988; her siblings, Julie (Rich) Stumpf, Bill (Lisa) Self, and Kelly (Eric) Stone; her brother-in-law, Chris Owens; her cherished nieces and nephews, Corey, Ryan, Jack, Shelby, Angie, Johnny, and Ryan; and her beloved fur companions, Ginger and Abbey. Her family will forever treasure the memories of her strength, kindness, and the joy she brought into their lives.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Suzie Owens, and her parents, William and Helen Self.
Visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Saturday, May 9, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Debbie's final wishes will be honored through cremation.
In recognition of Debbie's commitment to fighting rare forms of cancer, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Creeper Trail Ride to End Cancer (CTREC), a cause close to her heart.
