Donald E. Jones Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 24, 1938, in Loveland, Don lived a life filled with dedication and service, leaving behind a legacy that will long be remembered.
A man of many talents, Don's passion for community involvement was most vividly exemplified through his extensive work with the Blanchester Eagles #2222. Known affectionately as "the man, the myth, and the legend," he played a pivotal role in the organization's growth and success. His commitment was not just administrative; he was a hands-on builder, having literally helped construct the Eagles' bar in his own barn and renovation of the buildings. Don's enthusiasm for the local 4th of July Parade was infectious, as he proudly accepted numerous trophies for the Eagles. He was honored to be the first lifetime member, a testament to his tireless contributions and unwavering spirit. He also served his community as a former Wayne Township Fire Department member and pursued other passions doing masonry work, doing repairs to the cemetery gate stonework and additional block work to the former Wayne Township Fire Department as well as working on his own home with creek rock.
A lifelong farmer in Wayne Township, Don embraced the values of hard work and community support. His legacy extends beyond his accomplishments. He was a loving husband to his devoted wife, Barbara "Jeannie" Jones, and a father who inspired his sons, Ronnie and the late Donnie Jones and his daughters, Yvette (Dean) Gibbons and Connie (Chris) Snider. He was dearly loved by his grandchildren; Ashley, Brittany (Ben), Brandie, Brooke, Tiffany and Austin along with 8 great grandchildren and his sister Eloise Eickenhorst. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Millie Mills, Boots Gower, Mary Phletcher and Caroline Gragg. Don's warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, and he cultivated close friendships that enriched both his life and the lives of those around him.
Don will be remembered for his kindness and readiness to lend a helping hand, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held 12:00 Noon to 1:30 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home 1944 State Route 28 Goshen, OH.
