Dorothea Ann Whiting

Dorothea Ann (Rohrbach) Whiting, age 91, passed away on January 25, 2018. Dot was the beloved wife of Ken for 68 years, and the loving mother of Jim, and his wife, Cathy, of Plymouth, Michigan, and of Bob, and his wife, Kristyn, of Loveland, Ohio. She was the cherished grandmother of Lesley and her husband, Mike Fawcett, of Amesbury, Massachusetts, and of Brian Whiting and his wife, Elise, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and the proud great-grandmother of Grace, Shay, and Tommy. Dot also leaves behind her much-loved dog, Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Ina Rohrbach, and stepmother, Lida Stebbins; sister, Virginia Graham and brother, Howard Rohrbach, and is survived by her sister, Alice Thompson.
Born in Saginaw, MI, on July 21, 1926, Dot was the youngest of four children raised in East Lansing, MI. She was a proud graduate of Michigan State University, where she belonged to the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and earned her B.A. in Business Administration in 1949. She was a longtime resident of Birmingham, Michigan, and Oceanside, California, and had moved to Milford, Ohio, in 2014 to be closer to her family. Dot was an avid golfer and a past club Secretary and President of El Camino Country Club in Oceanside, as well as a former club champion. Dot enjoyed traveling, playing cards and bunco, and watching all sports, especially rooting for her beloved Michigan State Spartans.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Okemos, Michigan, in the spring. In lieu of flowers for the family, memorial donations may be directed in Dot's name to the Dementia Society of America at 1-800-DEMENTIA (336-3684) and at www.dementiasociety.org/donate.
