Dorothy "Dot" Brooks 78 of Milford, Ohio passed away May 5th, 2026 surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life. She was a woman whose warmth and generosity left a lasting imprint on everyone she met. She is preceded in death by her beloved and devoted husband Ronald Brooks who she has missed terribly since his passing less than 2 years ago. Dorothy is survived by her children Shondia (Mark) Schaefer, Anthony (Carrie) Brooks. Her grandchildren Baylee (Brad) Anstaett, Nicholas Schaefer, Cameron Schaefer, Riley Brooks, Katie Brooks and Emma Schaefer, great granddaughter Claire Anstaett. Her loving and supportive sisters Evelyn, Joyce, Theresa, Regina and Renea, her brother Mitchell, brother in laws Roy, Jeff and Peter as well as many friends and neighbors.
Dorothy will be remembered as a nurturing and deeply endearing soul, someone whose presence made others feel instantly at ease. Her home was more than just a place-it was a refuge. No one ever left her doorstep empty-handed or hungry; she had a gift for anticipating needs before they were spoken and meeting them with quiet grace and often a touch of humor. Her laughter, gentle and sincere, could brighten even the heaviest of days.
She was the oldest of thirteen children and was a true Matriarch of her family. Family was the center of her world, and she devoted herself to them with unwavering love. She had a remarkable way of making each person feel truly seen and cherished, as though they mattered in a way no one else quite could express. Loving came effortlessly to her-it was simply who she was.
She took great pride in caring for her home and yard, finding joy in the simple beauty of a well-tended space. Whether tending to flowers or creating a welcoming environment indoors, she expressed her love through the spaces she nurtured.
Later in life, she surprised those who knew her best by embracing water aerobics-an activity that gently challenged her lifelong fear of water. It was a quiet testament to her courage and openness to growth, even in unexpected seasons of life.
Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She leaves behind not just memories, but a lasting example of how to live with an open heart. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home, in Milford, on Tuesday, May 12th from 10 AM until time of funeral services beginning at 12 PM.
