It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Cox, who left this world peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on August 6, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dorothy lived a life rich in love, family, and community. Residing in Owensville, Ohio, she was a devoted homemaker, who poured her heart into raising her six children and nurturing the bonds they shared. Dorothy's legacy extends beyond her family. She was a cherished member of the Owensville Community, known for her unwavering dedication to volunteering. Throughout her life, she played an integral role in supporting local initiatives, including working with the Stonelick Fire Department to procure trophies for the annual fair. Her devotion to service, combined with her enthusiastic presence at countless PTA meetings and school events, exemplified her deep commitment to the betterment of her community. She leaves behind her beloved children: Shirley Cox, Randy (Teri) Cox, Teresa (Tom) Vogel, Rick (Sonya) Cox, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her brothers, Donald Dyer and Steve Frost and her fur buddy Charlie. Each of her family members will forever hold dear the countless memories created under her loving guidance. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dorothy's life and legacy at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Church on January 2, 2025, at 11:30 AM. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the church starting at 10:30 AM, allowing loved ones to gather and share their reflections on her remarkable life. Following the Mass, Dorothy will be laid to rest at St. Louis Cemetery. Dorothy LaRue Cox will be remembered not only for her unwavering love for her family but also for the profound impact she made within her community. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace. Dorothy was preceded in death by: parents Lester and Emma Schlosser, husband of 62 years George Cox, sons Robert and Ronald Cox, and brother James Smith. Memorials in her memory may be made to the Stonelick Fire Department.
