Douglas Korneffel

May 2, 1930 — October 21, 2025

Douglas Korneffel Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 21, 2025, at 95 Years. He was born on May 2, 1930, in Birmingham, Michigan.

Doug grew up in times when the neighbors and people of Detroit and the country changed their businesses and lifestyles to support the World War II effort. He talked about it often and it formed the person he was, and how he raised his family.

After attending Howe military academy in Indiana, he enlisted to serve in the Korean war, then returned to get a Business degree at Central Michigan university, and afterward started working in the Detroit Auto industry.

After returning home, He got reacquainted with the girl next door, Carole Hurns, and they married in 1957. Together they built a life rich in love and family. Doug then landed a job at Proctor and Gamble, and brought the family to Cincinnati.

Doug and Carole's three children-Douglas (Leslie), Gregory (Christine), and Kelly (John)-were a testament to their nurturing spirit. Doug's legacy of kindness and warmth toward everyone, will forever be etched in the hearts of his grandchildren: Lindsay, Adam, Krista (Dett), Katie (Zachary), Kevin, Alex, Grant, as well as his great-grandchildren: Ellory, Parker, Riley, Collins, and Harry. He was fondly known as "Bapa" by all the grandkids.

A mid-life calling brought them both back to their roots in Michigan and a cottage on Lime lake, where they spent many summers.

Doug (Bapa) will be profoundly missed, but his spirit and kindness will continue to live on in the memories and stories shared by his family.
