It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edna Virginia Whitaker, also known as Ginny. She was born on March 15, 1925, in Williamsburg, Ohio, to the late Thomas and Mary (nee Chance) Hobson. She peacefully passed away on October 24, 2024, at the age of 99.
Ginny was the beloved wife of 44 years to the late Howard Edwin Whitaker; Loving mother of Bud (late Charlene) Whitaker, Bill (Maryann) Whitaker, Carla Whitaker, Marla Patton, and the late Paul Whitaker; Cherished grandmother of Brian Whitaker, Steve (Mendy) Garrison, Lisa (Dan) Chase, Angie (Ben) Michael, Gill (Andy) Baylis, Chad Whitaker, Robin Allen, Derek (Magan) Whitaker, and the late Kim (James) Hall. Great-grandmother of 12, and great-great grandmother of 5. Ginny is also preceded in death by her siblings Harley Hobson and Dot Manning.
Ginny was a woman who never met a stranger. She had a gift for storytelling, captivating everyone she met with her tales. She found joy in reading, solving word puzzles, and creating beautiful crocheted afghans. A devout attendee of Edenton Methodist Church, Ginny found solace and community in her faith. Furthermore, she loved selling Avon, sharing her passion for beauty and connection with those around her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home - 1944 OH-28, Goshen, OH 45122. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held after the committal service at the Wayne Township Community Center - 6306 St. Rt. 133, Goshen, OH 45122.
