Ferd Evans

Edward Ferdinand “Ferd” Evans, beloved husband for 63 years to Carol Angst Evans, devoted father of Gail Evans Motz, Gregory (Elaine) Evans, Daniel (Christine) Evans and the late Gary Evans, loving grandfather of Gary (Rosie) Motz, Mark Motz, SM, Emily (Nick) Fahrig, Peter Evans, Julianne Evans, Claire Evans, Alexander Evans, Samantha (Anthony) VanDorpe, Zachary Evans, great-grandfather of 3, dear brother of Eileen Wiederhold, Tom Evans, the late Stanley “Bud” Evans, Imogene Brossart and Jack Evans.

Ferd was born on Main Street in Owensville, Ohio on June 24, 1937, son of Alice and Edward Evans. He attended the Owensville School, was a proud graduate of St. Xavier High School and Xavier University. Ferd worked for Alpha Cement Company, LeBlond Machine Tool, Dorn Office Supply, Arnold Gauge, Stripco and St. Gabriel Consolidated School. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Kettering. He actively volunteered at parishes in Cincinnati and West Chester, Ohio and Meriden and Middletown, Connecticut. Ferd loved to create art and repair anything he saw that was broken. He spent hours in his basement workspace on his lathe. He had special affection for family gatherings and always played croquet to win.

Passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at the age of 85, a resident of Miami Township, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 11 AM at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Walnut Hills, OH.  The  family will receive friends at the church 10 AM until the time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marianist Mission, 4435 E. Patterson Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45430. Burial at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Montgomery, Ohio.
