Obituary

Edward John Scott

June 29,1944 - July 20, 2026

It is with deep sadness, and with gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, and community leader, who died peacefully at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with cancer.

A devoted public servant, Eddie proudly served as Volunteer Fire Chief of his local fire department. His courage, leadership, and steadfast commitment to protecting others left a lasting mark on the community he loved so dearly. He was admired not only for his strength in times of crisis, but also for his compassion, humility, and calm presence.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Scott, loving daughter, Kimberly Scott Owens (Greg) and three cherished granddaughters, Alexandria Kenney (John), Katie Harrington (Jake), and Olivia Overbeck (Cy), six great-grandsons, Jack, Logan, Graham, Cy, Bradley, Andrew, and a great-granddaughter, Lexi, who brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Bradley Scott Owens and his parents, John and Carrie Scott.

Beyond his service to others and his devotion to family, he was a gifted craftsman. Whether building, fixing, or creating, his skill and ingenuity were widely admired, and many will treasure the things he made and repaired over the years. He also held a special place in his heart for animals. Whether caring for pets or simply enjoying their companionship, his kindness and gentle spirit extended to all creatures, great and small.

He will be remembered for his selflessness, quiet strength, and the many ways he gave himself to others. His legacy of service, craftsmanship, and compassion will continue to live on in the lives he touched.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center Street, Milford. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
