Eileen Marie Wiederhold

March 20, 1932 — February 6, 2025

Eileen Marie Wiederhold (nee Evans) passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the age of 92, at her residence in Batavia, Ohio. Eileen was the beloved wife of 71 years to the late Charles Wiederhold, devoted mother of Linda, Tom (Lori), Jim, Jeff (Kim), Joe, Donnie (Jennifer) Wiederhold and Tammy (Jack) Murray; loving grandmother of Katie (Ryan) Garry, Anna (Joda) Wolfe, Mary (Josh) Goins, Tyler (Liz) Wiederhold, Chas (Kirsten Brademeyer) Wiederhold, James (Gary Smith) Wiederhold, Tim (Elexis) Wiederhold, Isaac, Elijah, Hannah Wiederhold, Stephanie (Milton) Henry, Amanda Murray, and the late Ali (Kris) Sons; doting great-grandmother to Hope, Asher, Ethan Goins, Mackenzie, Madeline, Matilda Garry, Luke and Benny Wolfe, Tate Wiederhold, Grayson Wiederhold, Greta Brademeyer-Wiederhold, and Alex and Justin Bonnell. Eileen is also survived by her brother Tom (Barb) and sisters-in-law Carol and Charlotte Evans, as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

Eileen is reunited in everlasting life with her loving spouse, Charles Wiederhold; parents, Alice (Rosselot) and Edward Evans; siblings, Stanley "Bud", Jean (Bob) Brossart, Ferd, and Jack Evans; and granddaughter, Ali Sons.

Eileen was born at her family's home in Owensville, on March 20, 1932. She was the third of six children and attended Old Boston schools. She graduated in 1950 as a four-year member of the cheerleading squad and FHA. Also, surprising most everyone who has ever sat in front of her at church, she was also a four-year member of the chorus.

Eileen was always social and well-liked. She loved any job where she could see and be seen. As such, she spent her professional career serving others as a numbers lady at the phone company, a cook at various local schools and as the Matron of Ice Cream at the Owensville Dairy Bar, where she reveled in scooping up sweet treats while getting the scoop about the town goings on, alongside the other gals.

After proposing to him at a square dance, she married Charles Wiederhold on Valentine's Day in 1953. The pair went on to raise seven children, who had even more grandchildren for them to love. Ever the supportive and involved parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent, Eileen never missed a show, soccer game, wrestling match, or important event. And when she was sidelined by limited mobility and a range of health issues in her later years, she took to watching the digital picture frame that allowed her to stay more fully-involved with her families' lives, despite being more homebound.

Through the incredible effort and dedication of her children, Eileen was able to remain at home through the end of her days. She was a devout Catholic, beloved matriarch of her family, and woman of many talents (including baking her famous Angel food cake, and hanging laundry out to dry while wearing stilts). She would want to know where your coat was, even if it was 70 degrees outside. She always had a Brach's peppermint (or ten) in her pocket (but don't tell her doctor). If you finished your meal, she'd insist you have seconds. And if you didn't finish, she'd insist something was wrong. Eileen was a big-feeling woman, in the most wonderful of ways. The waterworks were just part of who she was, a way of showing gratitude, wearing her heart on her sleeve, showing how much she cared, all the way to the very end.

Eileen passed away, surrounded by family, immediately after receiving communion and following a prayer by her Parish's priest, which ended with him saying, "I have given you all the blessings I have to give. You are free to go." And, so, quietly, peacefully; with tears caught in her lashes, she did.

Family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home, Milford, on Wednesday, February 12th from 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louis Church on Thursday, beginning at 11:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow at St. Louis Cemetery.
