Elaine Tackett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elaine Tackett, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Elaine departed this life on July 10, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born on May 28, 1946, Elaine was the cherished daughter of a large family, being one of thirteen siblings. Her early years were spent amidst the rolling fields of Indiana before moving to south-eastern Ohio, then ultimately settling in the Cincinnati area.

Family was everything to Elaine; she embraced her role as a caretaker with warmth and dedication, pouring her heart into raising children. She took immense joy in being surrounded by her loved ones, often opening her door to anyone in need, never able to say no to a friend or family member. Whether cooking meals or providing comfort, Elaine's generous spirit was a foundation of love that her family cherished deeply.

Elaine is survived by her devoted husband, Elijah Tackett, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 61 years. Together, they created a welcoming home filled with laughter and love.

She is also survived by her son, Doug Tackett, and her grandchildren: Hartzell (Tre) Helton and Michael, Jeremy, and Jason Tackett. Her legacy continues with great-grandchildren Tre, Blake, and Kyngston Helton, Laila and Kailynne Barnett, Genesis and Joash Nyawalo, Hailie Spence, and Tilda, Jeremiah, Pierce, and Kash Tackett. Elaine will be fondly remembered by her siblings, including her sister Margie Kiser and brothers Clay and Donnie Large, and siblings-in-law Marty and Norma Large and Dave Collier, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends, including Beverly Feltner. Elaine was preceded in death by parents Clayton and Celia Large, son Derek Tackett, daughter Lana Tackett, grandchild Jeanne Tackett, and her siblings Bobby, Sue, Joan, Sherry, Webby, Ronald, Ethel, Ruth, and Ruby, and siblings-in-law Jerry, Emerson, Stella, Bruce, Bob, and Junior.

Elaine and Elijah enjoyed many evenings filled with laughter, taking joy in their poker nights with friends, where the cards were never as important as the company. Her ability to turn ordinary moments into cherished memories will be missed by all who knew her.

In honor of Elaine's vibrant spirit and dedication to family, funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 1:30PM in the Evans Funeral Home, Milford. Friends and family are invited to gather and share their stories, celebrating a life so well lived beginning at 12:30PM.

Elaine Tackett may have left this world, but her unwavering kindness will resonate in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
