Pleva, Eleanor, 90 of Dayton passed away May 23, 2025 in her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on September 21, 1934, the daughter of Rafael and Catalina Garcia. As a lifelong learner, Eleanor received 2 Master degrees from University of New Mexico and a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Nebraska and she retired as a social worker in public education. Eleanor loved to go garage sales, woodworking, ceramics, her flower garden, world traveling, "The Lawrence Welk Show", her Mexican heritage, Sock Monkeys, volunteering at her children’s sporting events and was an avid lap swimmer with a killer backstroke. Survivors include her husband David, Sr.; daughters Catherine and Cecelia Pleva; a brother Raymond Garcia; sister Cecilia (Carlos) Escobar; and brother-in-law Michael Ortiz, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son David Pleva, Jr.; sisters Delores “Lola” Garcia and Esther Ortiz; brothers Emilio and Rafael Garcia. A mass of Christian burial to honor Eleanor will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 11:00AM at St. Leonard Faith Community with Father Terry Meehan officiating. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. Memorial contributions are requested to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton 324 Wilmington Ave Dayton, Ohio 45420. Evans Funeral Home, Milford has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
