Elmer Hershel Raisor

In Loving Memory of Elmer H. Raisor A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and Vietnam Veteran, Elm lived a life of dignity, honor, and service to his country and family. Elm decided to serve his country and volunteered to join the United States Army in 1965. After completing his basic training at Infantry School he volunteered for Airborne School at Fort Binning, Georgia, where he was awarded his Parachutist Badge or Wings, which was one of his most proud accomplishments. Elm was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell KY, he deployed to Vietnam with the historic 173rd Airborne Brigade and served in Combat with 173rd Airborne at Bien Hoa, South Vietnam, and later with the 25th Infantry Division, 2nd Battalion Wolf Hounds at Cu Chi SVN. Elm participated in Operation Cedar Falls, the largest American ground operation of the Vietnam War. During his tour in Vietnam, he proudly served as an Infantryman and was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge and Bronze Star as well as The Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, and Vietnamese Campaign Medal. Upon his return from Vietnam he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. Elm rose to the rank of Sergeant E5 during his service. He embodied courage and dedication in the face of adversity. His military service was a testament to his selfless commitment to protecting the freedoms we all cherish. Elmer was preceded in death by Jean, wife, friend, mother of his children, and partner in life of 55 years. Elm was a steadfast patriarch, showering his loved ones with unconditional love, wisdom, and guidance. To his children Carla, Sean, and Christa, sons-in-law Bill and Benjamin, grandchildren Megan, Christopher, Fitzwilliam, and Colton, and great-grandchildren Olive, Evelyn, Rowan, and Caroline, he was a constant source of pride, support, and inspiration as he witnessed his family grow over the generations. His life was a shining example of sacrifice, resilience, and devotion to both nation and kin. Though he is no longer with us, Elm's enduring spirit, core values, and the countless beautiful memories he created will forever warm our hearts. We find solace knowing his legacy continues to inspire us all to live lives of principle and integrity. A man amongst men, Elm will be tremendously missed yet celebrated eternally. May he rest in eternal peace, for his profound impact on this world will reverberate through the ages.
