Elva Snider York, beloved mother, daughter, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on October 6, 1950, Elva was known for her heart of gold and her unwavering love for her family. A true caregiver, she devoted her life to nurturing those around her, always putting others' needs before her own.
Elva was a woman of deep faith, whose Baptist beliefs guided her throughout her life. Her cherished collection of Bibles stood as a testament to her commitment to her faith and spirituality. An old soul with a vibrant spirit, she found joy in the simple pleasures, particularly in doing puzzles, which often sparked laughter and bonding moments with loved ones.
Having retired from General Electric after 29 years of dedicated service, Elva's work ethic and ability to speak her mind were respected by many. She took immense pride in her family, and her bond with her granddaughter, Olivia Sullivan, was particularly special.
Elva is survived by her loving siblings: Glenna (Danny) Walker, Gale (Steve) Spruance, Allen (Paulette) Snider, Buddy Snider, Danny (Sharon) Snider, and Donna (Freelin) York, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
In honor of her life, a visitation that will take place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home in Goshen on Thursday, December 19th. The funeral service will begin at 1 PM. Elva will be laid to rest at Myers Cemetery.
Elva York will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to resonate in the lives of all who knew her. Her spirit lives on in the beautiful memories we hold dear.
Elva was preceded in death by her daughter Rita Snider, her parents Jim and Verna Snider and siblings, Jimmy Snider, Linda York, Ray Snider and Mary Jo Tubbs.
