Emily Jo Rich age 82, of Milford, Ohio passed away on November 14, 2023.
Emily was born in Cincinnati Ohio on January 4, 1941, to John and Sue Craver. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob Rich.
Emily is survived by her children Don (Kimberly Dittelberger) Hookom III, Erik (Eny) Hookom and David (Tina) Hookom. Eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, her sisters Mary Sue (the late Ralph) Vilardo and Sharyn (Bill) Kilduff, also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Emily graduated from Edgecliff College with a Teaching Degree in Elementary Education. She had a broad range of work experience. You might say she was quite the “Jack of all trades” to include; Funeral Director at Craver Hookom Funeral Home, Massage Therapist, Culinary Chef, Billing Associate at Scherzinger Pest Control, and Caregiver to her father up and through his dying time.
Emily was an avid canoeist and a true lover of the outdoors. It was not uncommon to see her outside taking long walks in all kinds of weather. Emily loved to be on the go! She and her late husband Bob enjoyed traveling together and Emily has really missed Bob since his passing on March 24, 1991. When she wasn’t outdoors, Emily could be found practicing yoga, dancing, riding her bike, playing tennis, swimming, painting, and gardening.
At the age of 82, Emily believed she was still 25 and she had the energy to prove it! Emily's ability to connect with all of God’s creatures was flawless. Like her mother, Emily loved birds and they loved her. She fed them, sang with them and nurtured them as if they were her own children. Oh, and how she loved her 3 sons (Don, Erik and David) and all their children; her great grandchildren and grandchildren. They were the joy of her entire existence and the largest part of her pride.
Emily was a lifelong Catholic who lived her own life to serve others. Her service to her fellow men and women opened so many pathways of new beginnings and unforeseen miracles. Those lives she has touched have grown like a blooming bouquet of flowers. Emily has planted so many seeds of hope and recovery. It would be fairly accurate to believe it is Emily’s vision of making our world a better place by simply loving each other to the best of our ability one day at a time.
Visitation for Emily will take place on Wednesday November 22, 2023, from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM at John H. Evans Funeral Home (741 Center Street, Milford OH, 45150)
