Eric Harold Lewis

March 12, 1953 — September 16, 2017

I passed peacefully into Heaven, September 16, 2017, surrounded by my family. I am survived by my loving wife, best friend and soul mate, Pat, and the two best sons a man could ever have, Brian and Michael, along with Daughter-in-Laws Beth and Claire, and Granddaughters Anna Reiter and Quinlyn. I am also survived by sisters Joyce and Carlene, soul sister Maryanne McGowan, in-laws Don, Jim, Linda, John (Sue), Bill (Melissa), Mike, Robby (David) & Millie, cousins Lynn & Rita (Larry), nieces & nephew Marcia, Elizabeth & Tom, best friends Mark & Barb, Dan & Cathy, Don & Cindy, Jerry & Jenny, Bill & Bernie, Tad, Pete & Virginia, Roger & Sharon, Ed & Sheila, Annette, Nate & Jan, Dave & Tish, Don & Judy, Joe & Ruth and numerous second cousins and friends.

I was born on March 12, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio to Carr and Margaret Lewis (deceased). After graduation from "The Ohio State University" with a degree in engineering, my first position was with General Dynamics, Fort Worth, TX, where I met and married the love of my life, Mary Patricia Dillon from Lafayette LA on June 30, 1978. Pat and I moved to Ohio to be close to my family. There, I worked for GE Aviation for the next 30 years retiring in 2009. After retirement, Pat and I moved full time to Punta Gorda, FL, where I pursued my passions of boating, fishing, kayaking, hiking, golf, billiards and poker. I also served my community in the Marine Patrol and Coast Guard Auxiliary.

My first priority in life was God, followed closely by family and friends. Pat and I loved to travel to Hawaii, the Caribbean & Europe. While traveling, I was always drawn to Catholic Churches, so I converted to Catholicism in 2001. Pat & I remarried in the Catholic Church December 15, 2001. God provided Pat & I several blessings over the years, particularly our two sons Brian & Michael, and miracle cures of Melanoma Cancer in 1981 and Pancreatic Cancer in 2009.

Boating with family and friends, on the Ohio River, Lake Cumberland, KY, and Charlotte Harbor, FL provided many wonderful memories. We especially enjoyed our boats tied up in coves under a waterfall, with the kids swimming, skiing and jumping off cliffs. I loved happy hour lying on the bows of our boats watching the sunsets and stars come out. My favorite long boat trip was down the Tennessee River to Mobile, AL, and then around the Gulf of Mexico to Punta Gorda, FL, accompanied by my sons.

I loved to spend time with my sons at their sporting events, as a leader in the Cub and Boy Scouts, sailing around the Florida Keys and Kayaking down the Green River, UT. The best memories our sons provided were the days they married and started their own families. I have always been soooo blessed!!!!!
