Eugenia Maezer

Eugenia (Jean) Maezer, (nee Plarpa ) age 98, passed away from natural causes on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 at Marsh's Edge Retirement Community on St. Simons Island, GA. Born Oct. 30, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, Jean graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago, June 1935 with a degree in education. She received her Master's Degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Ill. She taught Home Economics, English and Chemistry at Loretta High School, Chicago, Ill, from 1939-1941. She married the late Harold Joe Dale of Minneapolis, MN on December 27, 1941. After the war, she and Harold settled in the town of Hainesville, Ill. where she began teaching at Round Lake School (a one room schoolhouse) in Round Lake, Ill. When the newly built Round Lake High School was completed in 1954, she taught Home Economics and later became the Junior Class Advisor until 1965. On February 5, 1966 she married the late Joseph Maezer and relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. Survivors include her daughter, Victoria A. Brown of St. Simons Island, GA; step-daughters, Barbara (Tom) Evans of Cincinnati, Ohio and Janice (John) Norton of Hendersonville, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Joseph and Philomena Plarpa of Chicago, Ill. Jean will be remembered as a warm, wonderful woman with an engaging smile, a heart of gold and an infectious laugh. A visitation will be held at Evans Funeral Home, Milford, OH, Friday, August 12th, from 5 - 7 PM, followed by a Graveside Committal Service the next day at Guardian Angels Cemetery, Salem Rd. and Beechmont Ave., Anderson Twp., OH, Saturday, 11:30 AM.
