George Emerson Halfhill, age 94, born Nov. 6, 1921 to the late John C. and Elsie Halfhill; loving father of the late Sorrell Harris; dear grandfather of Donald, Jodi, Raymond and Shari Sarver & Jason Harris; many great-grandchildren, cherished step father of Kent (Joann) and Jerry Gulley; beloved brother of Marie Dunning, Elsie Lori Griffith, John Robert (Inita) Halfhill and Elizabeth A. Murray (Dave Stricker) Jones. Also, survived by many nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly. He was a WWII Veteran in the U.S. Navy stationed on a ship, which was involved in several battles. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 367 in Ripley. After the military, he joined the Carpenter's Union and was a finish carpenter by trade. George's interest involved raising Tennessee Walking Horses & riding them in parades. He loved country music, "square dancing", taking long drives and had a daily stop or two at "The Feed Mill" Restaurant in Felicity. He loved the food and fellowship of those who worked there and the company of many others who enjoyed it. He passed peacefully from a long illness Feb. 13, 2016 to his heavenly abode, surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be 6:30 to 7:30PM Wed. Feb. 17, 2016 at the Evans Funeral Home in Milford with a gathering of family & friends from 11:30 to 12:15 on Thursday the 18th, before travel to Graceland Memorial Gardens Chapel, Deerfield Rd. A Chapel Service will be at 12:30 PM. The Minister to officiate will be Polly Camery.In lieu of flowers his family requests memorial to the Cancer Society.
