Gerhard Rudolf Schubert, 65, of Cincinnati, Ohio, (formerly Milford, Michigan), passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, with his family by his side. Gerhard was born on September 29, 1957, in Sydney, Australia. He is the son of the late Franz and Angela (Stockinger) Schubert.
Gerhard married his first love and best friend, Sandra Jean Zytell, on May 28, 1983. In addition to his wife, Sandy, of 39 years, he is survived by his children: Brian (Libby) Schubert, Brett Schubert, and Bradley Schubert, and his grandchildren: Emma Jane, Elizabeth, and Evan Schubert. In addition, he is survived by his brother Frank (Colleen) Schubert and his sister Gabriele Schubert.
Gerhard graduated from Fraser High School in Michigan, where he played tennis. He received his Bachelor’s in Education from Wayne State University, where he played collegiate tennis. Gerhard was an experienced and sought-after tennis coach at many different tennis clubs throughout the state of Michigan. Besides his love of tennis, Gerhard had a passion for geology and astronomy. He was an adored science teacher and tennis coach at Lakeland High School. He even developed an astronomy curriculum and class during his time there. Gerhard was an avid fan of Detroit sports teams, and loved watching them with his family.
Gerhard battled Parkinson’s Disease for nearly 30 years with incredible positivity and resilience. His family plans to honor his memory and celebrate his life in Michigan at a later date.
