Harry Yearick Bower

November 29, 1940 — August 23, 2024

Harry Yearick Bower, a hard-working man known for his devotion to family, ability to converse with anyone, and faithfulness to God, passed away on August 23, 2024 at the age of 83.

Born November 29, 1940, the last of eleven children to Fleming and Catherine Bower. Harry grew up in the small town of Ada, OH, where he and his lifelong friends adventured through the 1940's and 50's in quintessential, small-town America.

In 1959, Harry enlisted in the Navy and embarked on journeys through the Atlantic and Mediterranean. In only four years, Harry accumulated enough stories to share for the next sixty years.

Upon completing service, Harry settled in Cincinnati where he spent the remainder of his life. In 1972, he met his beloved spouse, Rosemary, and they had three children: Paul, Daniel, and Pamela. Harry was a loving father who loved to laugh and play games with his kids. Harry worked diligently and dutifully in the grocery business, committing thirty years to Johnny's Market in Winton Terrace and only calling in sick twice. Harry faithfully served and attended First Baptist Church of Glen Este, where he and Rosemary were the longest tenured members at 42 years. In 2004, Harry was blessed with perhaps his favorite chapter of life: Grandpa. Harry always played with his grandkids and would make them laugh up to his last days.

Friends may gather to pay their respects and celebrate their memories at First Baptist Church of Glen Este, on Thursday, August 29th from 5 PM until time of the funeral service beginning at 7 PM. Burial with military honors will be held Friday, at 11 AM. at Batavia Union Cemetery.

Harry's life will be forever cherished by his family and friends, who will remember him for his hard work, humor, naval stories, and faithfulness to God and family. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings. He is survived by sixteen devoted family members: his wife of 51 years, Rosemary; their three kids and spouses: Paul and Ling, Daniel and Etsumi, and Pamela and John; and nine grandkids: Ethan, Anna, Audrey, Cody, Payton, Matthew, Kate, Sarah, and Jane. All miss him, yet are thankful he is with Jesus now.
