With heavy hearts, we announce the passage of the beloved Hedwig "Hedy" Pauline Wenker, who was born on September 30, 1931, in Germany. She peacefully bid farewell on October 26, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Coming to the United States in 1955, Hedy and her husband Josef were the proud founders of the Wenker Bakery, a cherished establishment in the community for many years.
Hedy was a woman of unwavering faith, finding solace in her spiritual beliefs throughout her life's journey. Her innate knack for numbers and business acumen led to the success of her bakery, a testament to her dedication and hard work. Her love for card games and her involvement in prayer groups were testaments to her sociable and community-oriented nature.
Having stayed connected with her relatives in Germany, Hedwig valued family above all else. She treasured every moment spent with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her children Joe (Donna) Wenker, John (Linda) Wenker, Mark (Ana) Wenker and Mary (Jeff) Schwartz; grandchildren Ian, Emily, Zachary, Josef, Sarah, Thomas, Matthew, Evan, Kyle, Mikaila, Trent, Andrew, Todd and Tori; and great-grandchildren Evan, Emma, Nolan, Bryn, Rory, Aili, Fritz, Lukas, Finley, Arthur and two on the way. She is also survived by her brother Clemens (Elisabeth) Ricke. Hedy is preceded in death by her husband Josef August Wenker.
The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home in Milford, on Thursday, November 7th from 6-8 PM. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held on Friday, November 8th at 9:30 AM at the Old St. Mary's Catholic Church, 123 E 13th St, Cincinnati, OH 45202. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery.
In honoring her memory, may we find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind and continue to cherish the love and values she imparted to all who knew her. Hedy will forever be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. May she rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Hospice of Cincinnati or EWTN
