Henry (Hank) Nicholas Gruber, a devoted husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 20, 2024 at the age of 78. Born on October 17, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio to his mother Irene Kerber Gruber and father Henry Bernard Gruber.
Hank was the beloved husband of Dana Lerant Gruber, father to sons Michael Gruber and Robert Gruber and daughters-in-law Randi and Laura, and grandfather to Benjamin Lerant Gruber and Zachary Paul Gruber.
The oldest of ten siblings, he is survived by his sisters, Marianne (Dennis) Harsley, Elizabeth (Bruce) Nelson, and Diane (Michael) St. Arnold, as well as his brothers, Matthew, Joseph (Sue), Stephen (Cammie), Nicholas (Joni) and Christopher (Phyllis). He was preceded in death by his sister Theresa (Christopher) Kemper.
Hank proudly served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant, a testament to his commitment and dedication to his country. After his service, he worked for over 20 years in quality assurance for the Hamilton County Department of Human Services.
Hank lived a life enriched by the love of his family and the joy of music. He played the guitar and shared his passion for music with Dana in their band, aptly named "Sweet Funk." He had an affinity for classic rock which he proudly passed on to his sons. He also had a lifelong hobby as a railroad enthusiast which he shared with his sons and grandsons.
A visitation honoring Henry's life will be held on December 29, 2024, at 2:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center Street in Milford, Ohio 45150.
Henry will be laid to rest at the Dayton National Cemetery 4400 W Third Street in Dayton, OH, 45428 at a date and time to be determined.
Hank will be deeply missed but warmly remembered for his incredible spirit, love of music, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy will continue to inspire and resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
