It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Herbert Lee Taylor, a beloved husband, devoted father, and respected member of the community. Born on June 19, 1947, in Batavia, OH, Herbert dedicated his life to his family, his work, and the pursuits dear to his heart. He peacefully departed from this world on August 14, 2024, in Batavia, OH, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 77.


Herbert was a man of many passions and interests. From fishing excursions in Canada to attending car shows, his love for old cars and county fairs was a cherished part of his life. He also found joy in participating in mission work at the Mountain Mission School in Grundy, VA, demonstrating his compassion for others. An avid collector of antiques and a regular at local auctions, Herbert appreciated the beauty of the past and relished in the thrill of discovering hidden treasures.


Throughout his life, Herbert found solace in spending time outdoors, whether it was tending to his yard or tinkering in the garage on a new project. His vibrant personality drew in many friends, who knew him as a kind-hearted individual who always lent a helping hand to those in need.


In addition to his wide array of interests, Herbert was a dedicated owner of Batavia Tile & Marble, where he poured his heart and soul into his work. His dedication to his profession was evident in the quality of service he provided to his clients.


Herbert is survived by his loving spouse, Kathy Taylor, with whom he shared countless cherished memories. Together, they built a life centered around family values and a deep appreciation for each other. Children Kevin, Chris and Dorrie Taylor, siblings Harold and Jake Taylor and Patti Tolle. Herbert was preceded in death by parents Jake Taylor, Ada Taylor; infant sister Frieda and too many to count fur buddies that brought him unconditional love over the years. Herbert's legacy of kindness, generosity, and hard work will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.


His life will be honored and commemorated at a funeral service to be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 11:00AM at the Glen Este Church of Christ, where visitation will begin at 10:00AM. Friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to join in paying tribute to Herbert's remarkable life and sharing fond memories of the time spent in his company. A burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Milford.


In these moments of grief, may we find solace in the legacy of love and compassion that Herbert Lee Taylor leaves behind. May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
